Vacuum sewer is specifically different than the other types of collection methods employed throughout the City. It maintains a partial vacuum, with an air pressure below atmospheric pressure inside the pipe network and vacuum station collection vessel. The vacuum station collection vessels can serve multiple homes within the vicinity. A lift station ultimately moves the collected wastewater to elsewhere in the gravity system for flow to the Water Reclamation Facility. They are designed to move high volumes of wastewater from one lift station where gravity flows are no longer possible to a location in the gravity system where gravity flows will allow it to reach the Water Reclamation Facility. The City maintains a digital inventory of the stormwater sewer system drainage area (MS4 area) to aid in implementation of the Integrated Stormwater Management Program control measures. In 2023, the storm sewer drainage basin area was updated and included in the 2023 Integrated Stormwater Management Program Document. The storm sewer drainage area was updated using ArcGIS Pro to model drainage based on the City’s stormwater infrastructure GIS data and a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) derived from Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) captured in March 2022. City outfalls that discharge stormwater to surface waterbodies either directly or indirectly were identified as points for analysis. Stormwater Underground Injection Control infrastructure was also analyzed to distinguish between infiltration-only basins and basins draining to the storm sewer system. The terrain dataset and contours were created using aerial Lidar collected on March 25, 2022 at a density of greater than 12 points per square meter. Lidar points classified as ground were used as the basis of the terrain model. Breaklines were added around bridges, retaining walls, and other sharp features to improve the accuracy around sudden breaks in the terrain. Breaklines were also added along significant bodies of water to assist with hydro-enforcement. The final terrain dataset was used to generate 1-foot contours. RMSEz = 0.33 feet.
This GIS data is for reference purposes only. The information was derived from Deschutes County GIS and City of Bend land records. Care was taken in the creation of this data, but it is provided 'AS IS.' Please contact the City of Bend to verify map information or to report any errors.
This dataset was created using aerial Lidar collected on March 25, 2022 at a density of greater than 12 points per square meter. Lidar points classified as buildings were used to automatically generate building polygons. Resulting buildings were reviewed for completeness. Buildings not defined using Lidar returns were manually collected using 0.25'-pixel aerial imagery collected on April 2, 2022.

Clean outs are a type of asset that allow access for maintenance purposes to smaller sewer lines which includes both main lines and laterals. Operations staff can use this layer to easily determine where cleaning of some sections of gravity based collections systems will not be possible with their primary equipment and to adjust accordingly. Urban renewal areas use Tax Increment Financing (TIF) to reinvest or rebuild parts of cities that are physically deteriorated, economically stagnated, unsafe or where the old urban layout no longer works. Bend’s TIF/Urban Renewal areas are managed by the Bend Urban Renewal Agency (BURA). This polygon feature class represents Bend's current Urban Renewal Districts. The concept of primary transit corridors identifies the roadway segments that are most significant for transit. These corridors are not bus routes or a service plan, but a policy tool to help the City of Bend and CET manage and coordinate land use, public infrastructure, and transit service provision. Primary transit corridors are a mechanism to coordinate transit and land use to achieve land use characteristics that can support a high level of transit service along Bend’s most important arterial transit corridors.

The Low Stress Network quantifies a roadway’s perceived stress using speed of adjacent traffic, presence or absence of on-street parking, separation from traffic, intersection approach, and the intersection control type itself. Intersection approach characteristics that are included in the analysis include posted speed of the road; presence or absence of left- and right-turn lanes; and required rider position and interaction with traffic. Perceived stress is quantified via the Low Traffic Stress (LTS) value. This line feature class includes all low stress network segments as defined by the TSP.

Comfortable, continuous and convenient pedestrian facilities are needed to connect people to places, services, recreation, transit, and jobs. People walking in Bend rely on the sidewalk walking facilities along City streets as well as some separated trails and paths (largely under the jurisdiction of the Bend Park and Recreation District (BPRD)). Numerous streets have no sidewalks or substandard ones, and crossings remain difficult in many locations. A strong interest in increased safety, comfort, and availability of walking facilities, particularly for children, was expressed by CTAC and the public.

Currently, the City has an incomplete system of on-street bike lanes and separated trails and paths (largely under BPRD’s jurisdiction), with several Neighborhood Greenways installed in recent years. A strong interest in bicycling facilities was indicated by both CTAC and the public. The resulting list of projects and programs is directed at improving safety, convenience, comfort, and direct connections for those choosing the bicycle as a mode of travel.
